About Me

I have been teaching in Florida for 12 years. Before that, I was in Pennsylvania where I taught Head Start, preschool, and substituted in every grade K - 12. I was also an administrator at a nationally accredited early learning program and an Education Specialist for a Head Start program.

Since moving to Florida I have taught Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade and for the past five years I have taught Third Grade. After three years of self-contained third I began teaming with another teacher and am now the math and science teacher for two classrooms.

My journey to the classroom was circuitous; for many years after college I was a stay-at-home mom. I home-schooled my two sons for several years, until my youngest started fourth grade. From there I moved on to preschool and then decided to get a masters degree in Early Childhood Education.

Since moving to Florida I have added Elementary Education and ESOL to my Pre-K / Primary certification, gotten my Reading Endorsement and achieved National Board Certification as an EC Generalist.

  2. Loved your "About Me"! What an inspiration you are, I myself was a stay home mom for many years and went back to work teaching VPK when my youngest turned 4. I loved working with kids that I decided to pursue a teaching education. This is now my second career (first degree is in Economics) and I plan on continuing to pursue other endorsements and eventually my Masters in Education. I currently teach 2nd grade and I love it.
